About Soave City of Books

For five days, the medieval village of Soave transforms into the capital of books: over thirty guest authors in fiction, current affairs, popular science, and journalism, meetings at the Palazzo del Capitano and in Piazza Mercato dei Grani, workshops for children, and literary walks. The 2026 edition, the thirteenth, takes place from May 20th to 24th with free admission to all events.

Soave, Capital of Books

Soave City of Books is the literary festival that animates the Scaliger village of Soave, in the province of Verona, every spring. Organized by the association SoaveCultura in collaboration with the Municipality of Soave, the Pro Loco, El Chiosco Ignorante Originale, and Destination Verona Garda, it brings together over thirty authors for five days, covering fiction, current affairs, popular science, journalism, and family activities.

Within the Medieval Walls

The main meetings take place in the most evocative locations in the historic center: the Palazzo del Capitano, the Sala Consiliare, and the Piazza Mercato dei Grani. There is also a literary lounge dedicated to emerging voices, workshops for children, meetings for young readers, and walks among stalls of antique books on the weekend. All events are free to enter.

A Village Among Italy's Most Beautiful

Soave, with its Scaliger castle and the walls that encircle the town, is among the most beautiful villages in Italy: the ideal setting for a festival that combines culture, local flavors, and hospitality.
