The SIS Roma Swimming Trophy has evolved over the years into one of the most anticipated competitions on the summer swimming calendar. Hosted at the Foro Italico Swimming Stadium, in the heart of Rome's most famous sports complex, the meet attracts over a thousand athletes and dozens of sports clubs from every region of Italy each year. The event, organized by the SIS Roma club, takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region, and serves as a crucial testing ground for the Italian national category championships.

The Foro Italico pool

The races are held in the 10-lane, 50-meter outdoor pool, equipped with electronic timing managed by the Italian Timekeepers Federation. Swimming at the Foro Italico means immersing yourself in a site steeped in Italian sports history, the same setting that hosts the prestigious Settecolli Trophy every summer. The outdoor location, nestled among the marble and pine trees of the complex, makes every edition particularly evocative.

The competition program

The event spans three days, with heats in the morning and finals in the afternoon. The program includes all swimming disciplines — freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley — covering distances from 50 meters to middle-distance events. Races are divided by age category, from young juniors to elite swimmers, allowing emerging talents to compete alongside established national stars.

An increasingly international event

In recent editions, the SIS Roma Trophy has taken on an international scope, welcoming foreign clubs and athletes alongside Italian teams. The showcase of the Foro Italico and the summer timing make it a high-level training and racing opportunity: top names in Italian swimming often participate, reflecting the technical quality achieved by the event.
