Author photography in the heart of the Valle dei Segni
Capo di Ponte, in Valle Camonica (province of Brescia), is one of the symbolic places of world rock art: its rock carvings, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, have earned the valley the name "Valle dei Segni" (Valley of Signs). It is in this historically rich context that, since 2015, SEGNI - Festival della Fotografia has taken place, an event that fosters a dialogue between contemporary photographic images and the signs left by humans thousands of years ago.
The festival is characterised by its widespread nature: photographic exhibitions are set up in various spaces within the village and the surrounding area, from Casa Briscioli to the Pieve di San Siro, from the MuPre โ the National Museum of Prehistory of Valle Camonica โ to other cultural venues. Walking among the exhibitions also means discovering the architecture and historical heritage of Capo di Ponte, on a journey that combines photography, landscape, and memory.
Since its first edition in 2015, SEGNI has grown to become a key event for photography enthusiasts in Lombardy, capable of bringing renowned names and projects to an Alpine valley. The choice of Capo di Ponte is no coincidence: in a place where images have always been a form of communication and storytelling โ just think of the 'pitoti', the figures carved in stone โ photography finds a natural and powerful setting.
Visiting SEGNI is an opportunity to combine two experiences: encountering contemporary photography and discovering an extraordinary territory, with its rock carving parks, Romanesque churches, and museums. A festival that invites you to look, and look closer, into the heart of Valle Camonica.
The 2026 edition of SEGNI - Festival della Fotografia returns to Capo di Ponte from August 23 to September 6, reviving the widespread format that distributes exhibitions and meetings across the historical and cultural venues of the Valle Camonica village.
The festival features exhibitions by author photographers, screenings, and meetings, in dialogue with the landscape and rock heritage of the Valle dei Segni. The detailed program, including the names of the authors and exhibition venues, will be published on the official website.
Photographic exhibitions spread across the village venues (Casa Briscioli, Pieve di San Siro, MuPre, and other spaces), screenings, and meetings with authors, from August 23 to September 6, 2026.
