The grand finale of Segni d'Estate

The Agriculture Festival is the traditional closing event of Segni d'Estate, a vibrant summer program organized by the Municipality of Segni, near Rome, in partnership with the local Pro Loco and community groups to enliven the months of July and August. In 2025, the festival took place from Friday, August 29th, to Sunday, August 31st, offering three days dedicated to rural heritage as a final farewell to summer before the return to daily routines.

Markets and local produce

The heart of the event lies in the markets set up across the town's historic squares and alleys. Stalls feature typical local products from the Lepini region, ranging from high-quality agricultural goods to traditional peasant culinary specialties. It is a unique opportunity to meet local producers directly and rediscover the flavors of a land deeply rooted in agriculture—most notably the famous marrone segnino (Segni chestnut), which is celebrated at a dedicated festival in the autumn.

Celebrating rural life

Alongside the market stalls, the program features initiatives linked to rural life, highlighting agricultural labor, farming traditions, and the identity of a village perched on the Lepini Mountains that has always maintained a close connection to the land. The festival is designed for all ages and is best enjoyed by strolling through the historic center in a convivial, family-friendly atmosphere.

A summer of events in the village

The Agriculture Festival arrives at the end of a particularly intense summer. The Segni d'Estate calendar includes celebrations for the patron saint San Bruno, featuring a grand historical pageant and the Palio di San Bruno, the Giostra del Maialetto (Piglet Joust) held in the Roman cistern during the Feast of San Gaetano, the musical evenings of Borgo in Musica, as well as dialect theater and shows for children and families. Closing the season with a festival dedicated to agriculture serves as a reminder of the village's most ancient vocation.

Segni, a village in the Lepini Mountains

The Municipality of Segni, located in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, Lazio Region, is one of the most fascinating historic centers in southern Lazio. Its imposing cyclopean walls, the acropolis with the Church of San Pietro, and the Co-cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta tell a thousand-year-old story. Attending the festival is also the perfect excuse to explore the village, located about an hour from Rome, and discover the landscapes of the Lepini Mountains, dotted with chestnut groves, olive orchards, and cultivated fields.

2026 Edition

The Segni d'Estate 2026 calendar is currently underway with its traditional July events, but the dates for the 2026 Agriculture Festival have not yet been officially confirmed by the Municipality. Following the pattern of previous years, the event is expected to take place during the last weekend of August. We will update this page as soon as the program is made public.
