About Sausage Festival

In the heart of Vallesina, the small village of San Marcello celebrates every spring one of the longest-running gastronomic festivals in the province of Ancona. The Sausage Festival, organized by the Pro Loco with the Municipality, revolves around the pairing of local sausage grilled over embers and the early artichoke of Jesi, an agricultural excellence also cultivated in the Settempeda countryside. Between food stalls, ballroom dancing, live music, a market, and entertainment for all ages, the historic center transforms into a grand event of celebration, flavors, and popular Marche tradition with free admission.

A Gastronomic Tradition of Vallesina

The Sausage Festival is one of the most deeply rooted food and wine events in the Municipality of San Marcello, a small medieval village in Vallesina, in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region. Founded in the 1960s, the festival has reached important milestones: in 2026, the 61st edition was celebrated, a sign of continuity that has bound the entire Settempeda community for generations. The event is organized by the Pro Loco San Marcello in close collaboration with the municipal administration.

Sausage and Early Artichoke of Jesi

The signature dish of the festival is the pairing of local sausage and the early artichoke of Jesi, a typical product also cultivated in the San Marcello countryside. The sausage, grilled over embers according to tradition, is served at the stalls managed by Pro Loco volunteers, accompanied by seasonal side dishes and local Vallesina wines. Don't miss the renowned Dinner in the Cellar, a convivial event by reservation dedicated to local dishes.

Music, Dancing, and Entertainment

In addition to gastronomy, the festival offers a rich entertainment program: ballroom dancing with traditional Marche orchestras, 1950s music, dance evenings, DJ sets, and dance school performances. For children, there are games, entertainment, and family activities, while along the streets of the historic center, a market of crafts and local products unfolds. The atmosphere is that of a village festival, simple and participatory, capable of attracting visitors from all over Vallesina.

A Spring Appointment

The festival traditionally takes place during the Easter period and the following weekends, taking advantage of the milder spring days. Admission is free, and the organization provides a free shuttle service from peripheral parking lots to the historic center to facilitate visitor flow. An opportunity to discover an authentic Marche village, its hospitality, and the genuine flavors of the peasant cuisine of the province of Ancona.
