About Sapori in Comune Labico

Sapori in Comune is a widespread food festival that unites Valmontone, Labico, and Colleferro in a unique culinary journey through the villages of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital. The Labico stop transforms Corso Matteotti into a tasting route with free samples offered by local producers and restaurateurs, featuring wild herbs, legumes, wines, and the famous Noccioluto, the town's signature dessert. A free street festival, complete with music and conviviality, dedicated to short supply chains and the agricultural identity of the Prenestini territory.

A widespread festival across three villages in Lazio

Sapori in Comune was born in 2026 as a widespread food festival connecting three municipalities of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital: Valmontone, Labico, and Colleferro. Three stops, three villages, one story: that of an agricultural territory bordering the Monti Prenestini and the Valle del Sacco, which has chosen to present itself to visitors through its products, its kitchens, and its squares. The initiative was born from a call by the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital dedicated to inter-municipal tourism promotion and represents a concrete model of cooperation between neighboring administrations.

The Labico stop

Labico, a small town in the province of Rome in Lazio, hosts the second stop of the tour. For one evening, the historic center and specifically Corso Matteotti turn into a long culinary itinerary: stalls from local producers and restaurateurs, free tastings, and live music. The theme chosen for this stop is agricultural production and short supply chains, a common thread that perfectly captures the vocation of a town known throughout the Prenestini area for the quality of its dining.

What to taste

The Labico basket is made of simple, seasonal ingredients, enhanced by local kitchens:

  • Noccioluto, the village's signature dessert, linked to the local Tonda Gentile hazelnut
  • Wild herbs gathered in the surrounding countryside, stars of spring cuisine
  • Local legumes and zero-kilometer vegetables
  • Wines, baked goods, and traditional sweets from local producers
  • Dishes prepared by Labico restaurateurs, in tasting portions

Atmosphere and music

Sapori in Comune is not a commercial fair but a street festival: you stroll along the main street, taste, and chat with the producers. The evening is accompanied by musical entertainment, which in Labico was entrusted to a DJ set. Admission is free and open to all, and the tastings are offered by the producers, a formula that makes the event accessible to families, curious visitors, and food and wine enthusiasts.

The surrounding territory

Labico is located just over thirty kilometers from Rome, in a historic transit area along the ancient Via Casilina. The town preserves a compact residential center and an identity strongly linked to agriculture and food. The Sapori in Comune stop is therefore also an opportunity to discover a village that usually remains off the beaten tourist track, and to ideally connect it to the other two stops of the festival: Valmontone, with its Gigli and traditional bread, and Colleferro, with Roman caciotta, pecorino, extra virgin olive oil, and Cesanese wine.

Why go

Those looking for a traditional sagra will find something slightly different here: an event built by three administrations together, designed to get producers and restaurateurs talking to each other and to showcase the short supply chain to a wider audience. It is a young format, in its first edition, which focuses on the quality of the tastings rather than large numbers, and which has already shown it knows how to fill the streets of the center.

Sapori in Comune 2026 - the Labico stop

On Saturday, March 21, 2026, starting from 5:00 PM, Labico hosted the second stop of the first edition of Sapori in Comune, the widespread food festival promoted together with the Municipalities of Valmontone and Colleferro with the support of the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital.

The historic center, along Corso Matteotti, turned into a path of flavors and conviviality: local producers and restaurateurs offered the public free tastings of their products. There was no shortage of wines, baked goods, zero-kilometer vegetables, and dishes prepared by local kitchens.
