Voga alla veneta in the waters of the island of gardens, in the northern lagoon of Venice
The Sant'Erasmo Regatta is one of the races in the rowing season organized by the Municipality of Venice, held in the waters of the northern lagoon, around the island of Sant'Erasmo. Known as "the garden of Venice" for its agricultural vocation and the famous purple artichoke (castraura), the island provides the backdrop for an authentic and popular voga alla veneta regatta.
The Youngest Girls and Boys, Women, and Men categories compete on the water, on traditional boats such as pupparini and mascarete. The course takes place in the canal near the Maximilian Tower, with the finish line near the island's center.
Unlike the major regattas on the Grand Canal, the Sant'Erasmo Regatta maintains an intimate and community-focused dimension, frequented by rowing enthusiasts and island residents. It's an opportunity to discover a lesser-known side of Venice and the lagoon region of Veneto, characterized by vegetable gardens, canals, and rowing traditions passed down through generations.
The 2026 Sant'Erasmo Regatta takes place on Sunday, May 31st, in the waters surrounding the island, an event in the Rowing Season that sees young talents and protagonists of Venetian rowing compete.
The Giovanissime, Giovanissimi, Women, and Men categories will compete on pupparini and mascarete boats, along the canal near the Maximilian Tower.

Sant'Erasmo island can be reached by ACTV vaporetto (line 13) from Fondamente Nove in Venice. The main stops are Capannone, Chiesa, and Punta Vela.
Dates, times, and roles of the regattas are published on the Venice Municipality website, under the Valorisation and Protection of Traditions service.
