Three evenings of music, food stalls, and popular devotion in Colle Santo Giudico
The Sant'Anna Festival is one of the most cherished events of the summer in Valmontone, in the province of Rome. At the end of July, the Colle Santo Giudico district, located on the hill overlooking the historic center, transforms for three nights into a large festive space: lights, long tables, live music, and the enticing aromas from the food stalls welcome families and visitors from across the Monti Prenestini and Valle del Sacco area.
The festival is dedicated to Saint Anne, mother of the Virgin Mary, whose liturgical feast day falls on July 26. As in many communities in the Lazio region, the event blends religious observance with popular tradition: the highlight is the solemn procession on Sunday evening, when the statue of the Saint is carried through the neighborhood streets, accompanied by the "O. Francesconi" Valmontone City Band and the faithful. It is a moment of deep participation that strengthens the bond between the residents of Colle Santo Giudico and their patron saint every year.
The event is organized by the Sant'Anna Committee, a group of local volunteers who spend weeks preparing the stalls, decorations, and program. The festival is supported by the City of Valmontone and the local Pro Loco Tourist Association, and is included in the official calendar of institutional events, religious feasts, and traditional festivals of the Municipality, which schedules the recurrence between July 23 and 26.
Each evening of the festival features a well-stocked food stall where you can enjoy traditional local dishes in a convivial atmosphere, alongside musical performances on stage: tribute bands, pop groups, and live shows alternate until the final night, which, following the procession, leads into a grand musical finale. It is the classic formula of a local Lazio neighborhood festival—simple and genuine—where people come to eat well, listen to music, and spend time together.
Valmontone, a town of about 16,000 inhabitants in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region, is known for the monumental Palazzo Doria Pamphilj and the Collegiate Church of the Assumption, as well as the large entertainment and shopping hubs located just outside the town. The Sant'Anna Festival offers an opportunity to discover the most authentic side of the town: its neighborhoods, religious traditions, and community. Its location along the A1 motorway and the Rome-Cassino railway line makes the festival easily accessible from Rome and the rest of the province.
From Friday, July 24, to Sunday, July 26, 2026, the Sant'Anna Festival returns to Colle Santo Giudico, organized by the Sant'Anna Committee with the patronage of the City of Valmontone and the Pro Loco Tourist Association. Every evening, the well-stocked food stall—the convivial heart of the festival—opens its doors, accompanied by musical events on stage: Friday features the tribute band "I Ninfea," and Saturday the "Monja Band." On Sunday, July 26, the liturgical feast day of Saint Anne, the solemn procession will wind through the streets of the district at 9:30 PM, accompanied by the "O. Francesconi" Valmontone City Band; this will be followed by the grand finale with a musical show by "Maria Rosita and Matteo." Admission is free.
By car: A1 Rome-Naples motorway, Valmontone exit; the Colle Santo Giudico district is located in the hilly area of the town (Via Colle San Giudico). By train: Valmontone station on the FL6 Rome-Cassino line, with frequent connections from Rome Termini.
Access to the evenings is free; food and drinks at the stalls are available for purchase.
The food stalls open in the evening: it is advisable to arrive early to find a seat, especially on the Sunday of the procession. Information is available at the Valmontone Pro Loco and from the Sant'Anna Committee.
