The spring festival with flowers, plants, and markets in the historic center
On May 1st, Sant'Agata Bolognese, a town in the plain between Bologna and Modena, welcomes visitors, families, and gardening enthusiasts with Sant'Agata in Fiore, its spring festival. For an entire day, the historic center dresses up for the occasion and becomes a long path of colors and scents, enlivened by stalls, exhibitions, and entertainment for all ages.
The heart of the event is the market exhibition of flowers and ornamental plants: along the streets, nursery owners and exhibitors set up their stands, offering seasonal blooms, garden and balcony plants, ideas, and advice for green-thumbed enthusiasts. Edition after edition, the exhibition has gained increasing success, thanks to the participation of numerous exhibitors and a growing audience.
Accompanying the flowers is the famous Forte dei Marmi Market, with its stalls of clothing, accessories, and fine fabrics. There's also street food with specialties for every taste, artisan creations, and a vintage market, making the day an opportunity to stroll, browse, and shop through the town's streets.
Throughout the day, there are shows and creative workshops open to all ages, while dedicated entertainment areas offer rides and activities for children. A program designed for a festive and engaging atmosphere, making Sant'Agata in Fiore one of the most cherished events in the spring calendar of the province of Bologna.
Promoted by Pro Loco Santagatese in collaboration with the Municipality of Sant'Agata Bolognese, the festival is now a May 1st classic in the Bassa bolognese region, also known for its passion for engines (Lamborghini is based here). A simple and genuine way to welcome spring, amidst the greenery of the nurseries and the joy of a big town festival.
For its twenty-fifth edition, Sant'Agata in Fiore animated the historic center of Sant'Agata Bolognese for the entire day of May 1st, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Along the streets, stalls of the flower and ornamental plant market, the famous Forte dei Marmi Market, artisan creations, and a vintage market were featured.
There was also street food with specialties for all tastes, shows, creative workshops open to all ages, and entertainment areas with rides and activities for children, for a free-entry celebration that marked the start of spring in the Bassa bolognese region.
