About San Giòan dè lé Sardéne

In the hamlet of Conche, in Sale Marasino on Lake Iseo, the Festa di San Giòan dè lé Sardéne dedicates three evenings to lake sardines — agoni — the stars of the food stands along with other typical dishes. With live music and moments of conviviality along Via Conche, the event combines lake tradition and devotion, with proceeds going to charity. It is organized by Pro Loco Centrolago Sale Marasino.

Lake sardines celebrate

In Sale Marasino, overlooking Lake Iseo in the province of Brescia, the hamlet of Conche hosts the Festa di San Giòan dè lé Sardéne every summer. The dialect name refers to Saint John and the "sardene", or lake agoni, the typical freshwater sardines that are the symbol of the event.

Three evenings of taste and music

For three evenings, along Via Conche, food stands offer lake sardines and other traditional dishes, accompanied by live music. The festival maintains a strong link with its religious dimension: on Sunday, Holy Mass is celebrated, while on the patron saint's day, Mass and a procession are held, followed by a concert by the Coro Is.Ca. and a convivial moment.

A charitable festival

The event is organized by Pro Loco Centrolago Sale Marasino and has a charitable purpose: the proceeds are donated to charity. It is an event cherished by the community of the hamlet, combining lake identity, gastronomy, and tradition.
