The Teatro Vittoria competition festival dedicated to young and independent theatre
In the heart of the Testaccio district, one of Rome's most authentic neighbourhoods, the Teatro Vittoria hosts the Salviamo i Talenti – Attilio Corsini Award every September, a competition festival entirely dedicated to emerging theatre. The initiative was born with a clear objective: to provide visibility and a real professional opportunity to the youngest companies on the Italian off and independent scene, those that struggle to find space in the programmes of major theatres.
The festival is reserved for professional companies composed of actors and directors under 35. Each year, four finalist shows are selected from entries received from all over Italy and performed at the Teatro Vittoria. Two voices determine the winner: a professional jury of industry experts and the audience's vote, who attend the performances and actively participate in the selection.
The award is named after Attilio Corsini, founder of the historic Attori & Tecnici company and a key figure at the Teatro Vittoria. The recognition is far from symbolic: the winning company becomes a full part of the theatre's official programme for the following season, with a genuine debut on the Roman stage. The artistic direction of the festival is entrusted to Viviana Toniolo. As is traditional in the off-theatres of New York and London, these spaces serve as hubs where producers and industry professionals seek new resources and talent to launch onto larger stages.
The 17th edition is scheduled for September 2026 at the Teatro Vittoria, with exact dates yet to be confirmed. The call for entries closed on 29 May 2026, and the four finalist companies will be announced in the weeks leading up to the festival. Once again, the audience will play a decisive role in awarding the Attilio Corsini Prize, in a journey that combines the discovery of new theatrical languages with the excitement of a true competition.
The Teatro Vittoria overlooks Piazza Santa Maria Liberatrice in the heart of Testaccio, a popular and creative district of Rome, in the Lazio Region. Easy to reach by underground and well-served by the neighbourhood's nightlife, it has been a landmark for years for those seeking theatre focused on research and new generations. Attending Salviamo i Talenti means experiencing an evening of authentic theatre and discovering the protagonists of the Italian scene of tomorrow in a preview.
