About Saint Pius X Supino

In Supino, a village in the Ciociaria region nestled on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains, the end of August is dedicated to the Saint Pius X Festival, a heartfelt celebration for the parish community of the La Mola district. Around the modern church named after Pope Giuseppe Sarto, the faithful gather for moments of faith—including a solemn mass and a procession with the saint's statue—and convivial evenings that conclude the rich summer program of 'Supino d'Estate' in the heart of the Frosinone province.

A late summer festival in the La Mola district

When the grand patronal celebrations of Saint Lawrence have concluded and summer draws to a close, Supino gathers for another deeply felt occasion: the Saint Pius X Festival, organized by the parish community of the La Mola district. It is a festival with an authentically popular character, where the religious dimension—the solemn mass and the procession with the saint's statue through the streets of the district—intertwines with the moments of conviviality typical of village festivals in the Ciociaria region.

Saint Pius X, the Pope of simplicity

The festival honors Pope Pius X, born Giuseppe Sarto (1835-1914), pontiff from 1903 to 1914, canonized in 1954 and commemorated by the Church on August 21st. A figure of extraordinary simplicity and closeness to the people, Saint Pius X is particularly linked to the devotion of rural communities: it is no surprise that the La Mola district, which grew in the Supino countryside during the twentieth century, chose him as its spiritual reference.

The modern church on Via La Mola

The heart of the festival is the Church of Saint Pius X on Via La Mola: a modern building whose construction was decreed by Bishop Tommaso Leonetti on May 1, 1961, and completed by the end of the sixties, when the first parish priest, Father Antonino Boni, arrived in 1967. Designed with essential and linear forms, featuring a single nave and an isolated bell tower next to the hall, it houses the statue of the saint that is carried in procession during the festivities. Today, the church is a reference point for the religious and social life of this part of the town.

The program: between faith and community

The festival program follows the tradition of Supino's religious celebrations and typically takes place over two days in the latter part of August:

  • liturgical celebrations in the Church of Saint Pius X, with a solemn mass in honor of the saint;
  • procession with the statue of Saint Pius X along Via La Mola and the district streets;
  • moments of celebration and conviviality organized by the parish community and volunteers, in the spirit of Ciociaria neighborhood festivals.

For the 2026 edition, the festival is announced in the town's official calendar of events for the month of August, but the exact dates and detailed program have not yet been published.

Supino d'Estate: a village in celebration

The Saint Pius X Festival is one of the concluding events of Supino d'Estate (now promoted as the 'Supino 360°' calendar), the program that the Municipality of Supino builds every year together with the parish, committees, associations, and volunteers: from the patronal festivals of Saint Lawrence (August 8-10) to the Gnocchitti Festival, from the 'Guelfo Nalli' International Horn Players Meeting to Cinema under the Stars, up to the celebrations of Saint Roch and the Fiera delle Quattro Strade in September. A fabric of events that makes the village one of the most vibrant in the Lepini area.

Supino, a balcony over the Lepini Mountains

Supino, in the province of Frosinone, in southern Lazio, is a village of ancient origins spread out on the slopes of the Lepini Mountains, known for the Sanctuary of Saint Cataldo, Roman mosaics, and the nearby Santa Serena mountain. Participating in the Saint Pius X Festival is also an opportunity to discover the alleys of the historic center, the local Ciociaria gastronomy, and the trails that climb toward the peaks of the Lepini.

Saint Pius X Supino — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Saint Pius X Festival is announced in the official 'Supino 360°' calendar among the August events, alongside the Saint Lawrence festivals and other Supino d'Estate activities. The exact dates and detailed program have not yet been made public: traditionally, the festival takes place in the latter part of the month, with a solemn mass in the church on Via La Mola and a procession with the saint's statue.

For 2026, the Municipality of Supino has once again included the Saint Pius X Festival in the town's summer calendar, the result of collaboration between the municipal administration, the parish, committees, and volunteers. The event is scheduled for August, following the tradition where the La Mola district community celebrates Pope Giuseppe Sarto through liturgy, a procession, and moments of conviviality. The precise dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been communicated: as soon as they are available, the program will be updated.
