The patronal feast of Bevilacqua, between faith, food stalls, and a fair in the Bassa Veronese
In the heart of the Bassa Veronese, the small village of Bevilacqua (province of Verona) celebrates its patron saint every spring with the Saint Monica Festival and Fair. The event traditionally takes place around the second Sunday in May and is one of the most anticipated moments of the year for the community: a celebration that blends religious devotion with the popular conviviality typical of Venetian festivals.
The religious aspect, with services dedicated to Saint Monica, forms the backdrop for a true village festival. The festival square hosts food stalls managed by the parish and volunteers, musical evenings, and the unmissable fair with market stalls, amusement rides, and craft markets.
The organization is managed by the Parish of Bevilacqua, with the patronage of the Municipal Administration and the work of numerous village volunteers. Like many patronal feasts in the Veronese plain, Saint Monica's festival is an occasion to come together, support community initiatives, and keep alive a tradition that is renewed year after year. Entry to the festival is free.
The 2026 edition of the Saint Monica Festival and Fair takes place from Friday, May 8th to Monday, May 11th, 2026, with the patronal feast culminating on the second Sunday of May (May 10th). In the festival square in Bevilacqua (VR), religious services, food stalls, live music evenings with orchestras, and the fair with market stalls and amusement rides will take place. Entry is free.
The detailed day-by-day program will be published by the Parish of Bevilacqua on the official website and Facebook page in the weeks leading up to the event. The usual structure of the festival includes:
