About Festival of the Tresto
A festival dating back to 1468
The Festival and Fair of the Tresto, also known as the festival of Saint Matthew or Our Lady of the Tresto, is one of the oldest events in Ospedaletto Euganeo, in the province of Padova. Its origins date back to 1468, the year of the apparition of the Madonna to the bargeman Giovanni Zelo from Ponso, which occurred on September 21st, an event commemorated by the sanctuary built on the site.
From one day to ten days of celebration
Originally celebrated in a single day, from 1868 the festival was extended to three days, and since 1989 it has lasted for ten days, starting from the Friday before the fourth Sunday of September. It is thus one of the longest festivals in the area, intertwining the religious dimension of pilgrimage to the sanctuary with the popular dimension of the fair and the celebration.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Tresto
The heart of the event is the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Tresto, located at Via Tresto Sud, a place of devotion for the faithful of the Bassa Padovana. The festival, with free admission, is open to the entire community and is organized by the Municipality together with the sanctuary's parish.
Festival of the Tresto — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festival and Fair of the Tresto in Ospedaletto Euganeo (PD) will be held from September 25th to October 4th, from 6:00 PM on September 25th until October 4th, at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Tresto. The event, with free admission, is organized by the Municipality together with the sanctuary's parish.
