Saint Lucy's Festival

The 2026 edition of the Saint Lucy's Festival confirms Miranda's tradition: on the last Sunday of August, the community ascends to the mountain chapel for the solemn 12:00 PM mass on the stone altar. In the week prior, the small church is illuminated and made visible from the entire Volturno Valley. The day is spent around the chapel, often with a packed lunch, in an atmosphere that combines faith and celebration.

Last Sunday of August 2026 — Saint Lucy's Chapel, Miranda

• 12:00 PM — Solemn mass in honor of Saint Lucy on the stone altar next to the chapel
• Day of conviviality around the small church, with packed lunch and views of the Volturno Valley

On the preceding summer Sundays, evening mass at 7:00 PM in the small church. In the week before the festival, nighttime illumination of the chapel.

How to get there

Miranda is located in the province of Isernia, a short distance from the provincial capital. By car, it is reached via the roads leading up to the village; the chapel of Saint Lucy is on the surrounding mountains and can be reached on foot or along the access roads indicated during the festival.

Tips

Bring a packed lunch and comfortable shoes for the climb: many faithful spend the entire day in the area around the small church. The altitude makes the evenings cool even in mid-summer.
