Saint Getulius Festival — Patronal Feast of Gambolò

Saint Getulius, Patron of Gambolò since 1672

Every year, on the last Sunday of October, the municipality of Gambolò, in Lomellina in the province of Pavia, celebrates its patron saint Saint Getulius, venerated in the town since 1672. The patronal feast is one of the most heartfelt events of the year, capable of uniting devotion, tradition, and culture in one great community celebration.

A Program of Faith, Folklore, and Culture

The celebrations include a series of religious, folklore, and cultural events. Among the traditional appointments are the town palio, performances by the band, and guided tours of the town's monuments. The history and martyrdom of Saint Getulius are also revisited through publications dedicated to the patron saint's figure.

Castello Litta and the Museum

The monumental heart of the festival is the Castello Litta, which during the celebrations hosts painting exhibitions and cultural initiatives, as well as the Lomellino Archaeological Museum. Its presence makes the patronal feast an opportunity to rediscover Gambolò's historical and artistic heritage.

A Decennial Tradition

An element that makes this festival unique is the procession with the Saint's body through the town's streets, which takes place every ten years and represents the most solemn and anticipated moment of Gambolò's devotion to Saint Getulius.
