The festival of the patron saint Sant'Andrea in Zelo Buon Persico
Every year, around November 30th (the liturgical day of Sant'Andrea Apostolo), the municipality of Zelo Buon Persico, in the province of Lodi, celebrates its patron saint with a sagra that combines religious and popular dimensions. It is one of the most heartfelt moments of the year for the community, jointly organised by the Parish of Sant'Andrea Apostolo, the Municipality, and local associations.
Between faith and public celebration
The calendar spans several days: evening meetings and celebrations in church precede the main Sunday, when the Solemn Mass is celebrated, followed by the procession with the statue of the patron saint, accompanied by the town's brass band. The civil part of the festival comes alive in Piazza Italia: a market of hobbyists and artists, chestnuts and mulled wine, live music, face painting, and entertainment for the little ones. There are also convivial moments in the parish hall and at the senior centre, with lunches and tombola (a lottery game).
A community festival
The Sagra di Sant'Andrea is also an occasion for participation that involves local realities, from the municipal library with its autumn-themed readings to the students of the Comprehensive Institute with dedicated initiatives. It is the festival that, at the gates of winter, brings the town together between religious tradition and the warmth of the public square in the heart of the Lodi region.

In 2026 too, Zelo Buon Persico will celebrate its patron saint Sant'Andrea Apostolo with the traditional end-of-November sagra. The precise dates and the full program for this edition have not yet been published and will be released by the Municipality of Zelo Buon Persico and the parish in the weeks before the festival.
Based on recent editions, the festival takes place over several days around November 30th, with religious celebrations in church, the main Sunday dedicated to the solemn Mass and procession, and the public festival with a market, food, and entertainment.

The dates and detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by the Municipality of Zelo Buon Persico and the Parish of Sant'Andrea Apostolo in the weeks preceding the festival.
Based on the established structure of recent editions, the schedule includes:
- Evening celebrations in church on the days preceding the festival (meeting on the patron saint, Holy Mass, penitential celebration)
- Autumn readings for children in the library and tombola in the parish hall on the weekend
- Sunday: Solemn Mass with procession of the patron saint's statue accompanied by the band; market and stalls of hobbyists and artists in Piazza Italia; chestnuts and mulled wine; live music; face painting and entertainment for children
