Six days of patron saint's festival in the hamlet of Pampuro
The Sagra di San Gaetano is the patron saint's festival of the hamlet of Pampuro, in the Municipality of Sorgà (province of Verona). It takes place in August and is the highlight of the summer for the small community of the Bassa Veronese, attracting visitors from all over the region for six days of music, shows, and good food.
For six evenings, starting from 7:30 PM, the kitchens offer typical local traditional dishes: duck lasagne, meat and vegetable pies, risotto al tastasal, roast duck leg, mixed grill, and mixed fried fish, accompanied by the best local wines. The evenings are often themed — from 70s-80s disco nights to motorcycle rallies, from 50s revival evenings with beard contests to live music with orchestras and bands.
Alongside the food stalls and musical evenings, the festival offers free parking near the festival area, a funfair for children, an aperitif and cocktail area, and market stalls. Organized by Pro Loco Pampuro with the support of the Municipality of Sorgà, the San Gaetano festival is an example of the vitality of local festivals in the province of Verona.
