The oldest festival in Val Liona, from 1800 to today
In Grancona di Val Liona, in the Berici Hills in the province of Vicenza, the Triduo is one of the oldest events in the area. According to parish chronicles, it was established in 1800 as a solemn triduum in memory of the deceased, following a terrible hailstorm: born as a religious vow, over time it has also become a great community festival.
With more than 225 editions under its belt, the Triduo di Grancona is a living testament to Venetian popular religiosity. The sacred part still respects the ancient vow: solemn masses are celebrated on Sundays in the church and on Mondays and Tuesdays in the cemeteries of Grancona.
Alongside the religious dimension, the Triduo is a well-attended festival. The food stand is managed by volunteers from the Pro Loco Val Liona; the evening events under the marquee offer music, fashion, comedy, and shows, culminating in the final laser show that beautifully concludes the event.
Between faith, memory, and conviviality, the Triduo di Grancona tells the deep identity of Val Liona: a late-summer event that for over two centuries has brought the community together around a tradition born from a dramatic event and transformed, generation after generation, into a festival for everyone.
The 2026 edition of the Triduo di Grancona is scheduled for late August, around the last Sunday of the month, following the festival's centuries-old tradition.
The program combines the sacred part – the solemn masses on Sunday in the church and on Monday and Tuesday in the cemeteries – with the great village festival, featuring the food stand of the Pro Loco Val Liona, music and show evenings under the marquee, and the final laser show. The precise dates will be confirmed by the Pro Loco. Program coming soon.
