The corn festival
The Sagra delle Tolle is the festival dedicated to corn in Montorio nei Frentani, in the province of Campobasso. 'Tolle' is the dialect name for ears of corn: the absolute protagonists of a sagra (food festival) that, founded in 1965, is now a historic summer event for the town.
Three thousand ears of corn in two days
During the festival, over three thousand ears of corn are prepared and distributed, boiled or roasted, over two days of celebration. The event celebrates the cultural and agricultural importance of corn for the community of Montorio, with food stalls, music, and moments of conviviality.
A tradition of the Frentani hills
Recognised as a local tradition since 1965, the Sagra delle Tolle tells the agricultural identity of Montorio nei Frentani, a village overlooking the Frentani hills of Basso Molise: an opportunity to rediscover the authentic flavours of the land and the community spirit of the town.
