The festival of the harvest and Donnas DOC wine, since 1956
Every early October, the municipality of Donnas, in the lower Aosta Valley, celebrates the harvest with the Sagra dell'Uva (Grape Festival), one of the most cherished food and wine festivals in the valley. The star is Donnas DOC, a red wine produced from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the typical pergolas that climb the mountain terraces, an expression of some of the northernmost heroic viticulture in Italy.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Donnas, in collaboration with local wine cooperatives, the festival was founded in 1956 and has spanned decades of local history. It is traditionally held on the first Sunday of October, extending over the entire weekend with a program that combines conviviality, gastronomy, and agricultural rites.
The program includes street food and dancing evenings, a tasting dinner featuring dishes from Aosta Valley cuisine paired with local wines, and on Sunday, the vignerons' lunch open to all. The heart of the festival are the delivery of grapes by the winemakers and the awarding of the Grappolo d'Oro (Golden Bunch), an award for the best grape bunches. There is also a mass and a parade with the town band.
The Sagra dell'Uva di Donnas is much more than a village festival: it is the moment when the community celebrates its bond with the land and wine, showcasing the wine-growing identity of Donnas, in the province of Aosta, and of the entire Aosta Valley.
For 2026, the Sagra dell'Uva di Donnas returns on the first weekend of October, with the first Sunday of the month (October 4) as the highlight. The formula combining street food and dancing evenings is renewed, along with the Saturday tasting dinner, and on Sunday, the grape delivery, mass, parade with the band, vignerons' lunch, and the Grappolo d'Oro award ceremony, in honor of Donnas DOC.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition, with exact times and prices, will be published by the Pro Loco of Donnas in the weeks preceding the event.
Based on recent editions, the festival is structured over the weekend as follows:
