About Safe Mobility Hack

Safe Mobility Hack Rome is an innovation marathon promoted by Lazio Innova and the Lazio Region. From May 9th to 11th, 2026, it brings students, researchers, and young innovators to the Tecnopolo Tiburtino for three days dedicated to the mobility of the future. Multidisciplinary teams work on solutions combining artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and satellite data to enhance transport system safety. Through workshops, mentoring, and a final Demo Session before a jury of experts, the best projects gain access to incubation paths with ESA BIC Lazio.

A hackathon for the safe mobility of the future

The Safe Mobility Hack Rome is an innovation marathon promoted by Lazio Innova and the Lazio Region, transforming the Tecnopolo Tiburtino, in the northeastern outskirts of Rome, into an open-air laboratory dedicated to the mobility of the future. For three intense days, from May 9th to 11th, 2026, dozens of young talents will compete to imagine tomorrow's transport: safer, smarter, and more sustainable.

The themes: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and satellite data

The core of the event is the integration of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and satellite imagery and data for risk prevention and management in transport systems. Challenges range from terrestrial to maritime, aerial, and space domains: from autonomous vehicles to intelligent traffic control and the protection of communication networks. A field where Earth observation and digital technologies become concrete tools for safer mobility.

How the innovation marathon works

Selected teams work on developing prototypes and innovative projects, supported throughout the process by:

  • Training workshops on technology, market analysis, and business models;
  • Mentoring sessions with industry experts and initiative partners;
  • A final Demo Session, where projects are presented to a jury of institutional representatives and partners.

Who can participate

The initiative is aimed at multidisciplinary teams of 3 to 10 people: university students, PhD candidates, researchers, and graduates who finished their studies no more than twelve months ago. Profiles that combine diverse skillsโ€”engineering, computer science, and economics, as well as social sciences, communication, and lawโ€”are particularly valued, as mobility safety is a challenge that requires complementary perspectives.

Prizes and opportunities

The most promising projects gain access to a dedicated path with ESA BIC Lazio, the incubator linked to the European Space Agency, to develop solutions with applications in the space sector. All teams that complete the marathon can also benefit from free consulting and prototyping services from the FabLab network managed by Lazio Innova.

Rome, the Tecnopolo Tiburtino, and the Lazio ecosystem

The venue is the Spazio Attivo Lazio Innova Roma Tecnopolo, on Via Giulio Peroni, in the Tiburtino III district, just a stone's throw from Rebibbia. Located in the Municipality of Rome, within the Metropolitan City and the Lazio Region, the Tecnopolo is one of the most dynamic innovation hubs in central Italy, animated by universities, competence centers like Cyber 4.0, and entities such as Sapienza University and the student association SASA. The Safe Mobility Hack represents its youngest and most experimental soul, capable of fostering dialogue between the academic world, businesses, and institutions.

Safe Mobility Hack โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Safe Mobility Hack took place from May 9th to 11th at the Tecnopolo Tiburtino in Rome. Three days of marathon dedicated to safe mobility, with multidisciplinary teams working on solutions based on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and satellite data, including training workshops, mentoring sessions, and a final Demo Session before a jury.

The Safe Mobility Hack 2026 animated the Spazio Attivo Lazio Innova Roma Tecnopolo from May 9th to 11th, bringing together students, researchers, and young innovators around the challenge of safe and sustainable mobility. Promoted by Lazio Innova and the Lazio Region as part of the PR FESR Lazio 2021-2027 program, the event saw the collaboration of Sapienza University of Rome, ESA BIC Lazio, the National Competence Center Cyber 4.0, Lazio Connect, and the student association SASA. Teams developed prototypes integrating artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and satellite data for risk prevention in transport, presenting the results in the final Demo Session.
