The G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra at the Ventidio Basso Theatre in Ascoli Piceno
With The Rossini Concerts, the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra of Pesaro makes its debut in Ascoli Piceno, bringing great symphonic music to the stage of the prestigious Ventidio Basso Theatre, an 18th-century gem in the heart of the historic center. The series is part of the Pesaro ensemble's programming, one of the most representative in the Marche region, and marks the beginning of an Ascoli initiative desired in collaboration with the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno.
The program of the series alternates masterpieces of the romantic repertoire with symphonic frescoes of the 20th century. It ranges from the luminous writing of Felix Mendelssohn, with the famous Violin Concerto and the "Italian" Symphony, to the brilliant An American in Paris by George Gershwin and the refined Sinfonietta by Francis Poulenc. There is also a tribute to the great film score composer Riz Ortolani, on the centenary of his birth.
The musical heart of the city, the Ventidio Basso Theatre is one of the most beloved historic theaters in the Marche. Overlooking the scenic Piazza del Popolo, with its famous travertine paving, it hosts opera, symphony, and drama seasons that attract a loyal audience from all over the province of Ascoli Piceno and beyond.
Among the strengths of the series is the pricing policy: the single ticket is only 10 euros, with a reduction to 5 euros for young people under 30 and members of the Friends of the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra association. A choice that brings classical music closer to a wide audience, especially new generations, with the support of the Marche Region and the Ministry of Culture.
The inaugural edition in Ascoli Piceno of the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra brought two highly anticipated concerts to the Ventidio Basso Theatre, demonstrating the growing connection between the Pesaro ensemble and the Ascoli audience. The debut, dedicated to Felix Mendelssohn, featured an internationally renowned soloist; the second event concluded the season with a program of 20th-century and cosmopolitan scope. The series was realized in collaboration with the Municipality of Ascoli Piceno, with the support of the Marche Region and the Ministry of Culture.
