The jazz series at Spazio Rossellini, the cultural laboratory of the Lazio Region in Rome
Every winter, Spazio Rossellini, a multidisciplinary cultural hub managed by ATCL in Rome's Marconi district, transforms into Rossellini Spazio Jazz: a series bringing the best of the Italian and European jazz scene to the stage. It is more than just a sequence of concerts; it is a true musical dramaturgy conceived as living art and a space for intercultural dialogue, spanning sonic territories from sophisticated reinterpretations of the great masters to the new compositions of contemporary jazz.
Rossellini Spazio Jazz presents itself as a genuine cultural laboratory of artistic quality and broad horizons. The program alternates between large ensembles, chamber projects, and solo acts, with particular attention to improvisation and experimentation. The goal is to engage a diverse audience: long-time enthusiasts, curious newcomers, and the younger generations discovering the language of jazz for the first time.
Following the positive reception of the first edition in 2025, the series returns in 2026 for its second edition, running from January 20 to March 28. The opening features "The Best of Tankio Band" with saxophonist Javier Girotto; the heart of the program is concentrated on the Tuesdays of March, with double evening appointments dedicated to solo and chamber projects. The closing event, on Saturday, March 28, is entrusted to the Area Open Project Tour 2026, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the album Arbeit Macht Frei by Area, a historic Italian band, by performing the tracks in their entirety.
All concerts are held at Spazio Rossellini, at Via della Vasca Navale 58, in the Marconi district of Rome, within the territory of Rome Capital (Lazio). The bar and ticket office open one hour before the shows, and limited free parking is available nearby. The series confirms Spazio Rossellini as one of the key reference points for the capital's winter jazz programming.
