Choral art bringing the streets of Tor Sapienza to life every December
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Rome TorSapienza Street Choir Festival is a choral event that transforms the streets of the Tor Sapienza district, on the eastern outskirts of Rome, into a large open-air stage every December. Located within the Municipality of Rome, specifically in Municipio V and the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, the festival unites school choirs, amateur polyphonic ensembles, and gospel groups to celebrate Christmas through the power of shared song.
The heart of the event is the Street Choir: authentic wandering choirs that animate Via di Tor Sapienza, Piazza Cesare De Cupis, and Via di Tor Cervara, bringing choral music directly to the people, outside of traditional concert halls. Alongside the street performances, the schedule features evening and afternoon concerts, including the traditional Christmas Concert, gospel sessions, and the Year-End Concert performed by the city's polyphonic choirs.
The festival was born in 2019 from the initiative of the TS Idee OdV Volunteer Organization, the same group that maintains the Tor Sapienza Park and promotes numerous social and cultural activities in the area. The festival has grown edition after edition with the patronage of the Municipio V of Rome Capital and the collaboration of choral groups from the Lazio region, becoming one of the most anticipated Christmas events in the district.
Each edition brings together a rich lineup of performers: small school choirs from local institutes, amateur polyphonic choirs for adults, gospel ensembles, and orchestras. Past editions have featured groups such as Coro Alfa Omega, Note Controvento, Coro Novo, the John Coltrane Choir, the True Colors Chorus, and various school choirs, with concerts also dedicated to the Orchestra Papillon and the Coro Polifonico Beato Angelico della Minerva.
Beyond its musical dimension, the festival has a strong commitment to solidarity: throughout its editions, it has supported the Fondazione Telethon research into rare genetic diseases and has been recognized as a city-wide solidarity event. Admission is free, and the event is designed to engage families, children, and the entire community in an atmosphere of celebration and participation.
The new edition of the Rome TorSapienza Street Choir Festival is scheduled, as every year, for December 2026 in the Tor Sapienza district of Rome. At the moment, the TS Idee OdV volunteer organization has not yet published the official dates or the detailed program for the edition. Information will be updated as soon as the calendar is released.
The festival takes place in the Tor Sapienza district, on the eastern outskirts of Rome, between Piazza Cesare De Cupis, Via di Tor Cervara, and the surrounding streets (ZIP code 00155).
By car: Exit from Via Prenestina or Via di Tor Cervara, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare (exits 14-15). By public transport: The Roma Tor Sapienza train station (FL2 Rome-Tivoli line) is just a short walk away, in addition to several urban bus lines connecting the district to the city center.
All events are free and open to everyone, both during the day and in the evening.
