The Rome Gospel Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the capital's Christmas calendar. Hailed as Europe's largest gospel festival, every December it brings the finest choirs, ensembles, and soloists from the United States to the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, as part of the Christmas at the Auditorium series. The powerful voices of African American singers fill the Sala Sinopoli with energy, drawing the audience into an experience defined by song, rhythmic clapping, and collective participation.

A twenty-year tradition

Produced by the IMF Foundation in co-production with the Fondazione Musica per Roma and artistically directed by Mario Ciampà, the festival has now surpassed twenty-five editions, establishing itself as a European benchmark for spiritual and gospel music. Over the years, the stage has hosted some of the most celebrated gospel choirs from across the Atlantic, from the Harlem Gospel Choir to major ensembles from Florida and South Carolina, all capable of conveying the spirituality and joy of a genre rooted in African American churches.

Gospel is more than just a concert; it is a collective ritual. The audience is invited to sing, clap, and move to the rhythm in a continuous dialogue with the choirs on stage. The event takes place in the City of Rome, in the Lazio region, within the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, the grand complex designed by Renzo Piano in the Flaminio district. As a beating heart of Roman cultural life, the Auditorium hosts the festival in the prestigious Sala Sinopoli, offering excellent acoustics to fully appreciate the richness of the gospel voices.
