The Roman week dedicated to cinema's greatest soundtracks
The Rome Film Music Festival is the capital's event entirely dedicated to film music, the invisible language that turns a scene into a memory. Every year, for one week, the City of Rome and the Lazio Region become the stage for live concerts, screenings with synchronized orchestras, immersive exhibitions, and meetings with industry leaders. The artistic direction is entrusted to Marco Patrignani, a historic figure of the famous Roman Forum Studios.
The festival weaves together great international scores with the rich legacy of the Italian school of composition. Alongside film-concerts that perform beloved soundtracks live, there is space for tributes to the masters who wrote the history of music applied to images. Screenings are accompanied by full orchestral performances, while more intimate sessions highlight jazz, piano, and electronic experimentation.
The heart of the festival is the Auditorium Conciliazione, a prestigious hall on Via della Conciliazione just a few steps from St. Peter's, which hosts large-scale film-concerts with orchestras. More intimate events are held at the Forum Theatre and the legendary Forum Studios in Piazza Euclide, in the Parioli district, a landmark location for recording Italian soundtracks.
With its network of sister festivals in Europe, the Rome Film Music Festival has taken on an international dimension, attracting musicians, orchestras, and fans from all over the world to Rome. For the city and the Lazio region, it represents a cultural appointment that celebrates the deep bond between the seventh art and music, paying homage to those who, behind the notes, gave voice to the emotions of the big screen.
From March 16 to 22, 2026, the capital celebrated the fifth edition of the festival under the artistic direction of Marco Patrignani. A full week dedicated to film music, featuring a tribute to the centenary of Piero Umiliani and the major symphonic event of Star Wars at the Auditorium Conciliazione.
Free meetings at the Forum Studios with composers, conductors, and producers, by reservation.
The Auditorium Conciliazione is located at Via della Conciliazione 4, in the Borgo district, a short walk from St. Peter's Square. By metro: Line A, stop Ottaviano-San Pietro, then a 10-minute walk. Numerous bus lines serve the Borgo and Castel Sant'Angelo area. The Forum Studios and the Forum Theatre are located at Piazza Euclide 34, in the Parioli district.
Tickets for concerts and film-concerts are on sale via TicketOne and the official website romafmf.com. Film Music Talks are free to attend, but booking is mandatory until capacity is reached.
Given the central location, we recommend reaching the Auditorium by public transport. For the most anticipated film-concerts, it is advisable to purchase tickets well in advance.
