About Roma Racconta...

Roma Racconta... is a series of free lectures promoted by the Educational Services of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage. From November to May, these events bring the Sala Tenerani at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi to life. Now in its fourth edition, the program brings together archaeologists, art historians, conservators, numismatists, and curators to share the story of the city's heritage and the professions dedicated to its preservation. Designed specifically for teachers and university students, with the possibility of earning academic credits, the lectures are open to the public both in person and via live stream.

A long narrative on Rome's heritage

Roma Racconta... is a rich calendar of lectures curated by the Educational Services of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage of Rome. From November to May, on a weekly basis, the Sala Tenerani at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi transforms into an open classroom where scholars and professionals take turns sharing the history, art, and multifaceted soul of the city. It is a project located in the heart of the historic center, between Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori, that makes cultural heritage accessible to everyone.

The professions of cultural heritage

The common thread of the series is a behind-the-scenes look at the museums and monuments of Rome. The speakers include archaeologists, art historians, conservators, numismatists, taxidermists, and catalogers: professionals who usually work away from the public eye and who, in this setting, share their experiences, methods, and discoveries. The lectures intentionally weave together humanities studies, ranging from Roman archaeology to the history of collections, from the 18th century to contemporary art, and from accessibility themes to community museums in the Lazio region.

An event for teachers, students, and citizens

Designed especially for teachers and university students, the program is recognized for teacher professional development and grants academic credits to students from major universities and academies in Rome, including Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, and the Academy of Fine Arts. However, the meetings remain open to all enthusiasts: over the years, the audience has expanded well beyond the city limits, thanks in part to the hybrid format that combines in-person attendance with live streaming.

Palazzo Braschi, the home of the story

The historic venue for the series is the Museo di Roma, housed in the 18th-century Palazzo Braschi, designed by architect Cosimo Morelli. Overlooking Piazza San Pantaleo and Piazza Navona, the building preserves paintings, sculptures, photographs, and furnishings that document the life of the city from the Middle Ages to the modern era: the ideal setting for a project that turns knowledge of heritage into an act of civic participation.

How to participate

Participation is free until capacity is reached. Reservations are recommended by calling 060608 by 7:00 PM on the day before the lecture. The bimonthly programs, including the full list of appointments, are published on the websites of the Museo di Roma and the Capitoline Superintendence.

Roma Racconta... — edition 2026

The fourth edition of Roma Racconta... took place from November 2025 to May 2026 in the Sala Tenerani of the Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi. A dense calendar of weekly lectures dedicated to the city's cultural heritage, with a focus on accessibility, community museums, and heritage professions, open to teachers, university students, and enthusiasts, both in person and online.

Roma Racconta... 4th edition

The fourth edition offered two bimonthly programs, from November 2025 to January 2026 and from February to May 2026, with free lectures curated by the Educational Services of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage. The common thread of the year was the theme of cultural accessibility, community museums, and the stories of heritage professions, with meetings held in person in the Sala Tenerani and live-streamed online.

Participation, free until capacity was reached, was valid for teacher professional development and for the recognition of academic credits for university students.
