A lecture series on the city's cultural heritage, held at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi
Roma Racconta... is a rich calendar of lectures curated by the Educational Services of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage of Rome. From November to May, on a weekly basis, the Sala Tenerani at the Museo di Roma in Palazzo Braschi transforms into an open classroom where scholars and professionals take turns sharing the history, art, and multifaceted soul of the city. It is a project located in the heart of the historic center, between Piazza Navona and Campo de' Fiori, that makes cultural heritage accessible to everyone.
The common thread of the series is a behind-the-scenes look at the museums and monuments of Rome. The speakers include archaeologists, art historians, conservators, numismatists, taxidermists, and catalogers: professionals who usually work away from the public eye and who, in this setting, share their experiences, methods, and discoveries. The lectures intentionally weave together humanities studies, ranging from Roman archaeology to the history of collections, from the 18th century to contemporary art, and from accessibility themes to community museums in the Lazio region.
Designed especially for teachers and university students, the program is recognized for teacher professional development and grants academic credits to students from major universities and academies in Rome, including Sapienza, Tor Vergata, Roma Tre, and the Academy of Fine Arts. However, the meetings remain open to all enthusiasts: over the years, the audience has expanded well beyond the city limits, thanks in part to the hybrid format that combines in-person attendance with live streaming.
The historic venue for the series is the Museo di Roma, housed in the 18th-century Palazzo Braschi, designed by architect Cosimo Morelli. Overlooking Piazza San Pantaleo and Piazza Navona, the building preserves paintings, sculptures, photographs, and furnishings that document the life of the city from the Middle Ages to the modern era: the ideal setting for a project that turns knowledge of heritage into an act of civic participation.
Participation is free until capacity is reached. Reservations are recommended by calling 060608 by 7:00 PM on the day before the lecture. The bimonthly programs, including the full list of appointments, are published on the websites of the Museo di Roma and the Capitoline Superintendence.
The fourth edition offered two bimonthly programs, from November 2025 to January 2026 and from February to May 2026, with free lectures curated by the Educational Services of the Capitoline Superintendence for Cultural Heritage. The common thread of the year was the theme of cultural accessibility, community museums, and the stories of heritage professions, with meetings held in person in the Sala Tenerani and live-streamed online.
Participation, free until capacity was reached, was valid for teacher professional development and for the recognition of academic credits for university students.
The meetings were held in the Sala Tenerani of the Museo di Roma at Palazzo Braschi, in person and via live stream.
