About Roma Pride

Roma Pride is the major LGBTQIA+ pride event that paints the streets of Rome's historic center every June. Organized by the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Circle—the group that brought the first Italian Pride to the streets in 1994—the parade sets off from Piazza della Repubblica and winds through the city's iconic landmarks to the Baths of Caracalla, featuring dozens of floats, music, and thousands of participants. It is both a political protest and a festive celebration, uniting civil rights advocacy, street parties, and the visibility of a community demanding equality and concrete protections.

Roma Pride: Pride marching through the Capital

Roma Pride is the most significant event in the Capital's LGBTQIA+ calendar and one of the most attended Pride marches in Italy. Every June, tens of thousands of people—reaching over a million in the busiest years—parade through the streets of Rome's historic center to demand rights, equality, and freedom. The event is organized by the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Circle, a historic Roman association that launched the first Italian Pride on June 28, 1994, and has spent over thirty years promoting civil rights and fighting all forms of discrimination.

A parade through Rome's iconic landmarks

The Grand Parade traditionally departs from Piazza della Repubblica in the early afternoon, passing by some of the city's most famous sights: Piazza dei Cinquecento, Via Cavour, the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Via Merulana, and the Colosseum area, before concluding at the Baths of Caracalla. The procession is brought to life by a long line of floats, each curated by LGBTQIA+ associations, collectives, venues, and organizations, featuring music, performances, and choreography that turn the streets into an open-air festival.

Politics and celebration combined

Roma Pride is more than just a festive parade; it is a political demonstration. Each edition features a slogan that summarizes the community's demands, ranging from combating discrimination and violence to the full recognition of rainbow families. Along the route, speeches are interspersed with appearances by godmothers and ambassadors from the world of Italian music and entertainment, who lend their voices to the cause of civil rights.

The Pride Croisette and cultural program

A rich cultural program revolves around the parade: the Pride Croisette, hosted at the Baths of Caracalla, offers weeks of free events—concerts, book presentations, theatrical performances, queer cinema, talks, and DJ sets—transforming Roma Pride into a city-wide festival that lasts nearly a month.

An event for Rome and the Lazio region

With its extraordinary turnout, Roma Pride has become an event that attracts visitors from all over Italy and abroad, contributing to Rome's image as an open and welcoming city. The event is part of the broader Onda Pride calendar, but in Rome, it takes on a unique dimension thanks to the stunning backdrop provided by the Capital's monuments. It takes place within the territory of the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, and is the most important rainbow event in the Lazio region.

Roma Pride — edition 2026

The 32nd edition of Roma Pride culminated on Saturday, June 20, 2026, with the Grand Parade from Piazza della Repubblica to the Baths of Caracalla, under the theme "The Republic belongs to those who inhabit it." This year's godmothers were Levante, Francesca Michielin, and Margherita Vicario. Thirty floats accompanied the procession, which was led by the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri. Surrounding the parade was nearly a month of free events at the Pride Croisette at the Baths of Caracalla.

Roma Pride 2026

The Roma Pride 2026, now in its 32nd edition, returned on Saturday, June 20, to color the Capital's historic center with its Grand Parade. The gathering of associations and floats was set for 3:00 PM at Piazza della Repubblica, with the parade departing at 3:30 PM and arriving around 7:00 PM at the Baths of Caracalla. Rome's Mayor, Roberto Gualtieri, marched at the head of the procession.

The edition's slogan, "The Republic belongs to those who inhabit it", relaunched themes of participation, equality, and citizenship. Organized by the Mario Mieli Homosexual Culture Circle, the Pride featured three godmothers—leading figures in Italian music: Levante, Francesca Michielin, and Margherita Vicario—in support of the LGBTQIA+ community's demands. The parade was brought to life by 30 floats.
