About Ripainlirica

In early August, Ripabottoni transforms into the Molise capital of lyrical singing with Ripainlirica, an international competition dedicated to the great Verdi baritone Piero Cappuccilli, whose origins lie in this very village. Between auditions and the final evening at Palazzo Cappuccilli, young singers from all over the world compete for the Cappuccilli Prize, in homage to the talent and voice of one of the most celebrated Verdi interpreters of the 20th century.

Lyrical Singing in Ripabottoni

Ripainlirica is the International Lyrical Singing Competition "Cappuccilli Prize" held annually in early August in Ripabottoni (CB). The festival was established in 2018 as a tribute to the great Verdi baritone Piero Cappuccilli, one of the most celebrated interpreters of the 20th century and a friend of Luciano Pavarotti, whose family origins are linked to this village in Basso Molise.

Auditions and Final Evening

The competition attracts young opera singers from all over the world, who perform over several days of auditions before a qualified jury. The highlight is the final evening, with the award ceremony for the winners, hosted in the evocative setting of Palazzo Cappuccilli. The artistic direction is curated in collaboration with the Piero Cappuccilli Foundation.

A Village for a Great Voice

Ripainlirica has transformed Ripabottoni into a small but recognized stage for opera music, capable of combining the valorization of the Molise territory with the promotion of young bel canto talents, in the name of one of the most beloved Verdi voices of all time.

Ripainlirica — edition 2026

Ripainlirica returns to Ripabottoni in early August 2026 with a new edition of the International Lyrical Singing Competition Cappuccilli Prize: audition days and a final evening at Palazzo Cappuccilli. Dates and regulations will be published by the organization.

In 2026 too, Ripabottoni (CB) will host Ripainlirica, the International Lyrical Singing Competition Cappuccilli Prize, expected in early August. The format with multiple audition days and the final evening at Palazzo Cappuccilli is confirmed, open to young opera singers from around the world.
