Edition 2025 — Ricotta Festival

The 65th edition of the Ricotta Festival was held in Sant'Angelo Muxaro on January 6, 2025, the day of Epiphany, and was also included in the Mushar Roots Fest project dedicated to roots tourism. At dawn, shepherds led their flocks to Piazza Umberto I, starting the preparation of the ricotta and a day rich in tradition, nature, and culture in the heart of the Sicani Valley.

The 65th edition of the Ricotta Festival took place as scheduled on January 6, 2025, the day of Epiphany, recording a large public turnout. In the early hours of the morning, a group of shepherds accompanied their flocks from the countryside to the central Piazza Umberto I: once the livestock was settled, the shepherds set up their stations and began preparing the ricotta.

The festival opened with the traditional cake cutting and the tasting of products made on-site — ricotta, tuma, ricotta cassata, and cannoli. In the afternoon, the Pastorale was performed, the tragicomic play featuring shepherds Nardo and Riberio. The 2025 edition, also promoted as Mushar Roots Fest as part of roots tourism, combined nature, science, culture, and tradition in a village strongly linked to its Sicani origins.
