Three days of international street food and crafts in Piazza Dante
For a long weekend, Piazza Dante, in the historic center of Naples, changes its face to become an open-air market where you can walk among signs in different languages, the scents of fried food, glowing grills, and freshly baked pastries. Regions of Europe – International Market is the Neapolitan stop of a traveling event that crosses Italy and finds one of its most recognizable settings here in Campania: the 18th-century hemicycle of the square, the Port'Alba facade, and the continuous flow of students, residents, and visitors.
Admission is free of charge and the stalls remain open continuously from morning until late at night: you can stop by for a mid-morning coffee and return for dinner, or take a full tour tasting a different dish for every country represented.
The heart of the event consists of over fifty selected vendors occupying the square. Alongside Italian producers bringing regional cured meats, cheeses, preserves, jams, and sweets, there are stalls arriving from half of Europe and Latin America.
Among the most visible delegations is the Scottish one, recognizable from afar by the colors of the Royal Stewart tartan. The stall offers craft beers—from lagers to stouts, up to Scotch Ales—along with a refined selection of whiskies and Harris Tweed fabrics crafted in the Hebrides. This is one of the reasons why, edition after edition, the event is described by local press as a small window onto Northern Europe opened right in the city center.
Alongside the flavors, there is room for artisanal craftsmanship: hand-painted ceramics, fine fabrics, leather goods, filigree jewelry, and small design accessories. This part of the event recalls the tradition of ancient market fairs, re-proposed with a modern selection of exhibitors, designed to ensure product quality and authenticity.
Regions of Europe – International Markets is a consolidated project created by Apeca and Prisma with the Confcommercio Union of Milan, Lodi, Monza and Brianza, in close collaboration with FIVA ASCOM. The circuit moves from square to square throughout the year, with consecutive weekends touching dozens of Italian cities, and maintains the same formula everywhere: open-air market, free admission, continuous hours from Friday morning to Sunday evening. The stated goal is to combine the vitality of historic markets with a modern and international selection of vendors, ensuring quality and authenticity. The 2026 Neapolitan stop arrived immediately after the Bari one in Puglia, the second of two stops scheduled in the South.
Piazza Dante, it must be said, has a long history with European markets: in the spring of 2025, the same square hosted the European Market by Anva Confesercenti, a distinct event but of a similar format, a sign of how this type of appointment has now become part of the habits of the Neapolitans.
More than just a simple gastronomic fair, it is an opportunity to cross the ancient center with a different pretext than usual. The square is served by the Dante station of Metro Line 1, so it is easily accessible from the entire urban area; and a few steps away are Via Toledo, the National Archaeological Museum, and the decumani, to complete the day. In the Campania Region, where festivals and markets almost always tell the story of the territory and its products, this event does the opposite: for three days, it brings the world into the Municipality of Naples, at the crossroads between the Avvocata and Montecalvario districts.
From June 5th to 7th, 2026, the historic center of Naples hosted the Campania stop of Regions of Europe – International Markets, immediately following the one in Bari. Piazza Dante was filled with gazebos and stalls for three consecutive days, opening at 9 AM and closing at midnight, without interruption.
Over fifty exhibitors brought gastronomic specialties and artisanal products from half of Europe and America: paella and churros from Spain, baguettes, croissants, macarons, and Breton biscuits from France, beers and specialties from Germany and the Netherlands, asado from Argentina, flavors from Brazil and Cuba, and American smash burgers. All this alongside Italian stalls with regional cured meats, cheeses, preserves, and sweets.
The corner dedicated to Scotland was very popular, recognizable by the colors of the Royal Stewart tartan, with craft beers (lager, stout, Scotch Ale), a selection of whiskies, and Harris Tweed fabrics from the Hebrides.
Friday 5th, Saturday 6th, and Sunday 7th June 2026: open continuously from 9:00 AM to midnight.
