R...Estate in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto is the summer festival through which the Municipality of Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, in the province of Messina, gathers dozens of events under one banner throughout the hottest months of the year. It is not just a single event, but a true widespread program: concerts, live shows, exhibitions, food and wine festivals, dance performances, and activities for children that move week by week from the city center to hamlets like Calderà, Nasari, and Cannistrà.

A city that comes alive from the center to the outskirts

The philosophy of the event is precisely not to concentrate everything in one place, but to bring the celebration to every neighborhood. Squares and open spaces become stages: the Piazza delle Ancore in Calderà, overlooking the sea, and the Teatro Mandanici, the city's main cultural venue, are among the most popular locations in the program. Many initiatives arise from collaboration with local cultural associations, parishes, and Pro Loco groups, which animate the villages with patronal feasts, historical re-enactments, and moments of conviviality.

Music, tradition, and gastronomy

The program alternates major events, such as musical evenings and performances at the Teatro Mandanici, with events more closely tied to local identity: the patronal feast of San Rocco in the hamlets of Nasari and Calderà, festivals dedicated to local products, and events dedicated to the promotion of the villages such as "Nto menzu a na strada" in Cannistrà. There is no shortage of food and wine events, including the Gustatio Day, dedicated to great Italian cuisine, and beer and street food festivals that attract audiences of all ages.

R...Estate is designed as an open and popular program: almost all events are free to enter, with the goal of making the Barcellona summer accessible to residents and visitors alike. The festival is sponsored by the Regional Department of Tourism, Sport, and Entertainment of the Sicilian Region and represents one of the main summer events in the Tyrrhenian area of the province of Messina.
