Primavera Tropicale is the spring event organized by RomaTropicale, the Roman community dedicated to plants and green living. The 2026 edition evolved into a full-fledged three-day green block party, which, from May 15th to 17th, turned the Ostiense and Testaccio districts in the heart of Rome into a temporary urban ecosystem where plants, people, and music blend together. A continuous flow of botanical markets, workshops, brunches, sunset DJ sets, and gatherings, all with free admission.
The three-day program
Each day features a different venue and atmosphere, designed to help you slow down and experience the urban space in a relaxed, convivial way.
- Friday, May 15 – Mostro (Ostiense), 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Opening night in "spring mode" with drinks, snacks, and music by DJ Bi Disc until sunset, plus the Plant Lottery with tropical plants to be won.
- Saturday, May 16 – Latta (Ostiense), from 11:30 AM to midnight: The main event, featuring a green market, botanical workshops, plant swaps, food, and drinks until 8:00 PM. DJ sets keep the space lively until late at night.
- Sunday, May 17 – Forno Ritorno (Testaccio), 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Closing in "slow living mode" with artisanal breakfast, a flower bar with fresh flowers to take home, and a morning DJ set.
Workshops and plant swaps
Saturday at Latta is dedicated to experiential workshops by reservation, with limited spots: Circular Matter & DIY Biomaterials with Industrie Fluviali, Botanical Charms, "Deep Forest" Terrariums, Floral Candles, a Yoga Session by MOB Studios, and Tropical Repotting. Not to be missed is the plant swap, an exchange of cuttings and plants that allows you to expand your collection for free and share cultivation tips with other enthusiasts.
Music and atmosphere
The soundtrack is curated by some of Rome's best selectors, with DJ sets accompanying every moment of the festival, from slow breakfasts to sunset aperitifs. The atmosphere is that of a relaxed, informal neighborhood party where botanical culture meets urban social life.
Testaccio and Ostiense, the festival districts
Primavera Tropicale chooses two of the most vibrant districts in Rome, in the Lazio region: Ostiense, with its post-industrial spaces that have become a symbol of the capital's creativity, and Testaccio, the authentic heart of Roman life, blending gastronomic tradition with a new cultural scene. The contemporary bakery Forno Ritorno, on Via Amerigo Vespucci, closes the event with its signature breakfast.
Primavera Tropicale — edition 2026
In 2026, Primavera Tropicale grew into a three-day green block party (May 15-17) connecting the Ostiense and Testaccio districts in Rome. It opened on Friday at Mostro with DJ sets and a Plant Lottery, came to life on Saturday at Latta with a green market, workshops, and plant swaps, and concluded on Sunday morning at Forno Ritorno with breakfast, a flower bar, and music.
A format that combines botanical culture, sustainable craftsmanship, wellness, and urban social life, confirming RomaTropicale as a benchmark for green living in the capital.

How to get there
The venues are located in the Ostiense and Testaccio districts of Rome. Testaccio is served by the "Piramide" Metro B station and the nearby Roma Ostiense train station; numerous bus lines and the number 3 tram connect the area to the rest of the city. Forno Ritorno is located at Via Amerigo Vespucci 20.
Admission and reservations
Admission is free for all days. Saturday workshops have limited spots and require advance booking through the official RomaTropicale channels.
Tips
Bring cuttings and plants to participate in the plant swap. Arrive early for the most popular workshops and enjoy the "slow living mode" on Sunday morning.
