The historic art prize of Nova Milanese
The Premio Internazionale Bice Bugatti – Giovanni Segantini is one of the longest-running artistic events in Italy, hosted in Nova Milanese, in the Province of Monza and Brianza. Every year, the prize is awarded to an artist of recognized merit, who is celebrated with a solo exhibition in the city's historic villas, particularly Villa Vertua Masolo and Villa Brivio.
The heart of the event lies in the historic residences of Nova Milanese, which transform into exhibition spaces for several weeks. Alongside the solo exhibition of the awarded artist, the prize typically features a collateral exhibition drawing from the rich collection of the Premio Bugatti Segantini — a heritage of hundreds of works from over twenty countries, accumulated over decades of editions.
Organized by the Libera Accademia di Pittura «Vittorio Viviani» together with the Fondazione Rossi and with the support of the Municipality of Nova Milanese, the prize is more than just an exhibition: it is a cultural event that combines exhibitions, conferences, and convivial moments such as the «Cena con l'Arte» (Dinner with Art). For enthusiasts and those wishing to discover the lesser-known Brianza, it is a precious opportunity to experience contemporary art in a refined setting.
The 67th edition of the Premio Internazionale Bice Bugatti – Giovanni Segantini takes place in Nova Milanese from June 6 to July 5, 2026. The 2026 prize is awarded to the Florentine artist Riccardo Guarneri (born 1933), a master of research on light, to whom the solo exhibition «Riccardo Guarneri, transiti di luce» at Villa Vertua is dedicated: eighteen paintings curated by Prof. Massimo Bignardi. In parallel, at Villa Vertua and Villa Brivio, the collateral exhibition «Incombenza della Pittura» displays works from the prize's historical collection. The inauguration is on Saturday, June 6, at 5:00 PM at Villa Vertua. The artwork «Freddo e luminoso» (2022) enters the civic collection.
