Pordenone: The Documentary Capital

For one week every spring, Pordenone becomes the Italian hub for lovers of real cinema. The Pordenone Docs Fest – The Voices of Documentary, organised by the historic local institution Cinemazero, brings the best of international documentary production to the city, featuring premieres, retrospectives, and meetings with filmmakers.

Cinema That Tells the World

Each year, the festival showcases dozens of films from around the world, with a particular focus on national premieres and contemporary themes: historical memory, the environment, conflicts, and the complexity of real-life storytelling. Alongside screenings, the programme includes masterclasses, training sessions, musical events (AperiDocs), and professional industry gatherings.

Between Screen and Virtual Reality

One of the distinctive features of Docs Fest is its openness to new languages: the section dedicated to virtual reality and XR, housed in a glass pavilion set up in the city centre, allows the public to experience immersive forms of documentary storytelling, fostering a continuous dialogue between traditional cinema and future technologies.

Under the Sign of Culture

Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the Municipality of Pordenone, and the Fondazione Friuli, the festival contributes to the city's journey towards becoming the Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
