Polenta Festival

After Ferragosto, Orvinio, in the Rieti area, renewed its most anticipated summer event. The 42nd Polenta Festival was held on Sunday, August 17, 2025, with the food stand opening at 7 PM in Piazza del Comune.

The polenta, prepared with organic flour according to the village's ancient recipe, was served in the characteristic wooden bowl that guests were able to take home as a souvenir. Two toppings were offered by the volunteers of the Pro Loco of Orvinio: the sausage and pork rib sauce, which was the most popular, and the simple tomato version.

During the day, the streets of the historic center hosted craft and food markets, while in the evening, the square came alive with live music and dancing. Many visitors arriving from Rome took the opportunity to discover the village, which is part of the "Most Beautiful Villages of Italy" circuit, and the 13th-century Convent of San Nicola.
