The historic September fair and the Festa di Zuvén in the heart of Pieve di Cento
The Pieve Fair and Youth Festival is the identity event of Pieve di Cento, an elegant village in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, in Emilia-Romagna, bordering the Ferrara area along the old course of the Reno river. The event combines two celebrations with a very long history: the Fair of industry, craftsmanship, agriculture, and commerce and the Festival of Youth, whose progressive numbering far exceeds two hundred and sixty editions, a sign of centuries-old continuity that few events in the area can boast. In the Pieve dialect, the festival has always been the Festa di Zuvén, the festival of youth, linked to popular devotion to the Madonna del Buonconsiglio.
The event traditionally takes place on the occasion of the first Sunday of September, spanning the weekend of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The fair stalls and stands occupy via Gessi and via Melloni and extend into the historic center, with afternoon and evening hours that accompany visitors until late at night.
For three days, the streets of the center are filled with artisans, merchants, and numerous gastronomic stands, while several stages host moments of musical entertainment and concerts. The typical program includes:
The fair is also the ideal opportunity to visit Pieve di Cento, carefully rebuilt after the 2012 earthquake and known for its elegant arcaded center, the Collegiata di Santa Maria Maggiore, the Teatro Comunale, and its vibrant luthier and musical tradition. The official inauguration takes place in piazza Andrea Costa, with greetings from authorities, the ribbon cutting, and the accompaniment of the band. The event is organized by the Pro Loco of Pieve di Cento together with the Municipality and the Committee of Economic Operators, and represents one of the most heartfelt events of the entire Reno Galliera Union.
The 2026 edition of the Pieve Fair and Youth Festival is scheduled from Friday, September 4th to Sunday, September 6th, 2026, according to the traditional placement on the first Sunday of September. The dates are officially confirmed in the register of public area fairs of the Emilia-Romagna Region, taking place along via Gessi and via Melloni and in the historic center of Pieve di Cento, from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
As every year, the event will combine the commercial, gastronomic, and craft fair with the anticipated Festa di Zuvén, featuring concerts, shows, and entertainment. The detailed program of concerts, exhibitions, and cultural initiatives will be published by the organizers shortly before the event: it is advisable to consult the channels of the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Pieve di Cento for updates.
Pieve di Cento is located in the plain north of Bologna, bordering the province of Ferrara. By car, it can be reached from SP42 or SS64 Porrettana; the nearest motorway exit is Altedo (A13 Bologna-Padova). By train, the reference station is Cento or San Pietro in Casale, with onward travel by bus.
The 2026 edition takes place on Friday 4, Saturday 5, and Sunday 6 September, with indicative hours from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Free admission.
The historic center is largely pedestrianized during the fair: it is advisable to leave your car in the peripheral parking lots. Don't miss the gastronomic stands and the visit to the Collegiata and the arcaded center.
