The historic summer fair of Casalmaggiore with music, sports, and entertainment on the Po River
The Piazza Spagna Fair has its roots in a 19th-century fair tradition and represents the quintessential summer event of Casalmaggiore, a city in the Province of Cremona overlooking the Po River, bordering Emilia. For a week, Piazza Garibaldi and the city center become the pulsating heart of the celebration, with stalls, music, sports, and entertainment.
The fair's program is packed and spans various genres: concerts by well-known artists, sports competitions (athletics, cycling, triathlon), music festivals, shows, and entertainment for all ages. A formula that combines the popular dimension of a town festival with high-quality offerings, capable of engaging families, young people, and sports enthusiasts.
The most evocative and anticipated moment is the grand finale with the "incendio del fiume" (river fire) and fireworks over the Po: a pyrotechnic display reflected in the waters of the great river, attracting thousands of people to the banks each year. It's the symbolic image of the fair and its most spectacular farewell.
The closing of the Piazza Spagna Fair coincides with the opening of the Casalmaggiore International Festival, a prestigious chamber music event that brings musicians from around the world to the city. A handover that tells of Casalmaggiore's dual cultural soul, between popular celebration and great music.
Behind the organization is the work of the Pro Loco of Casalmaggiore, with the support of the municipal administration. It is thanks to the volunteers that, year after year, the fair continues to renew itself while keeping alive a tradition deeply rooted in the city's identity.
The 2026 edition takes place from July 4 to 9 in Casalmaggiore, with events concentrated in Piazza Garibaldi and the city center. The program alternates major concerts, sports competitions, and music festivals, culminating in the grand finale on July 9 with the river fire and fireworks over the Po and the opening of the Casalmaggiore International Festival.
The organization is handled by the Pro Loco of Casalmaggiore with the support of the Municipality.
