About Clam Festival

From June 4th to 6th, 2026, Pesaro celebrates its first edition of the Clam Festival, an event dedicated to the "Purassa", the Adriatic clam that symbolises Pesaro's maritime tradition. Between the Maritime Museum and the port on Calata Caio Duilio, three days will weave together seminars, guided tours, talks with fishermen and restaurateurs, a sea excursion following a clam boat, Adriatic folk songs, live concerts, and food stalls at popular prices offering spaghetti with clams, polenta and chickpeas, passatelli, and seafood soup.

Pesaro tells its story through its clam

The Pesaro Clam Festival was born in 2026 as a new event dedicated to the maritime culture and tradition of the Adriatic. The absolute protagonist is the "Purassa", the dialect name Pesaro fishermen use for clams, one of the most representative seafood products of the Marche coast. The event, promoted by the Municipality of Pesaro within the province of Pesaro and Urbino, aims to enhance the deep connection between the sea, fishing, gastronomy, and local identity.

A festival spread between the museum and the port

The heart of the event is the Washington Patrignani Maritime Museum, located at Villa Molaroni, which hosts the days of June 4th and 5th with seminars, guided tours, and workshops. On June 6th, the festival moves to the port of Pesaro, on Calata Caio Duilio and the Molo di Levante, where the clam tells its story live, from the sea to the table.

Culture, science, and storytelling of the supply chain

Alongside the celebration, the Festival offers in-depth moments: the seminar "The Purassa Clam: Gastronomic and Cultural Heritage of the Territory", the guided tours "The Clam Tells the Sea" curated by Professor Maria Lucia De Nicolรฒ, reading workshops for schools, and the choral talk "Let's Go Clamming!", which brings together fishermen, chefs, restaurateurs, gastronomy experts, and photographers to tell the story of the entire supply chain. Don't miss the city itinerary "On the Trail of the Sea", exploring the mosaics of the Duomo, the Fountain in Piazza del Popolo, and the Pescheria Visual Arts Centre.

At sea with the fishermen

One of the most evocative experiences is "La Purassa in Mare": an excursion aboard the motor ship Queen Elisabeth, following a clam boat, to witness fishing activities up close and learn about the daily work of Adriatic fishermen.

Gastronomy, songs, and live music

The food stalls, open at popular prices, offer a menu entirely dedicated to clams: clams marinara style, fried in a cone, polenta with clams and chickpeas, passatelli, spaghetti with clams, clam and chickpea soup with toasted bread, as well as local desserts and wines. The evenings come alive with Adriatic folk sea shanties from the association "La Canta" of Cattolica and a live concert by Swingarella. Included in the rich calendar of Pesaro's 2026 events and in the landscape of the Marche Region's festivals, the Clam Festival is a perfect opportunity to discover the city's maritime soul.
