The flavours of Bergamascan tradition at PalaSpirà
The Peasant Festival and Spring Festival is a food and wine event held at the PalaSpirà, in Via Sant'Antonio, in Spirano (Province of Bergamo). Dedicated to traditional flavours and the conviviality of old-fashioned festivals, it spans two weekends and celebrates the arrival of the good season in the Bergamo plain.
Bergamascan cuisine is the star: on the menu are casoncelli alla bergamasca, tripe, penne alla contadina, polenta bergamasca and polenta taragna, pork knuckle, oselì scapacc, and platters of local cured meats and cheeses. Among the desserts, the famous Polenta e Osei stands out, a symbol of Orobic pastry-making. The kitchen is open every evening, and on Sundays also for lunch; every day at 6 p.m. aperitifs are accompanied by a DJ set.
Alongside the food, the festival offers spectacular moments of popular folklore: the greased pole race with professional teams from the Acrobati della Cuccagna, traditional games for children and families with the Compagnia del Re Gnocco, and evening concerts, with sounds ranging from soul to rhythm and blues.
The event also has a charitable purpose: part of the proceeds supports the Cooperativa Sociale Agreo, involved in employment inclusion projects for people with disabilities or in fragile situations. Added value that strengthens the festival's bond with the territory of Spirano.
The 2026 edition, the second, of the Peasant Festival and Spring Festival takes place at PalaSpirà in Spirano (BG) on the weekends of March 20-22 and 27-29. The kitchen offers the great classics of Bergamascan tradition, open every evening from 7 p.m. and Sundays also for lunch from 12 p.m.; every day at 6 p.m. aperitifs with DJ set.
