On the first Sunday of May, Rocchetta celebrates its patron saint
In Rocchetta a Volturno, a village in Upper Volturno in the province of Isernia at the foot of the Mainarde mountains, the patronal feast of the Madonna Assunta is celebrated on the first Sunday of May. It is one of the most cherished events for the community, which gathers around the Parish of the Assumption of Mary to honor its protector.
The feast intertwines the religious aspectโwith liturgical celebrations and the procession of the statue of the Madonna through the village streetsโwith civil events: musical performances, cultural initiatives, and food stalls featuring typical products from Upper Molise. The organization is jointly managed by the parish and the Festival Committee.
Held at the beginning of May, the feast of the Madonna Assunta marks the start of the festival season in Rocchetta a Volturno, bringing life and color back to the village streets after winter and drawing families and returning emigrants to the town.
In 2026, Rocchetta a Volturno will again celebrate the patron saint, the Madonna Assunta, on the first Sunday of May. Organized by the Parish of the Assumption of Mary and the Festival Committee, the feast will feature liturgical celebrations, the procession of the Madonna's statue, musical performances, cultural initiatives, and food stalls with typical products.
The detailed schedule will be released by the parish and the Festival Committee in the weeks preceding the event.
