The Patron Saint of Fortunago

Saint Ponzo is the patron saint of Fortunago, a historic hamlet of the municipality of Colli Verdi, in the province of Pavia. His feast day, set for May 15, is one of the most cherished events in the village, recognized as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in Italy" and nestled in the hilly landscape of the Oltrepò Pavese. A day when the community gathers around its roots, between religious celebrations and popular festivities.

Faith and Tradition

The religious heart of the day is the solemn mass, celebrated in honour of the patron saint. The feast's programme unfolds around the services: the Bersaglieri Brass Band enlivens the village streets with its music, while exhibitions of vintage saddles and carriages recall the rural traditions of the area. Stalls selling typical Oltrepò products complete the atmosphere, featuring cured meats, cheeses, wines, and local specialities.

The feast is also an opportunity to visit Fortunago: the programme includes a guided tour of the medieval village, through its stone alleys, panoramic viewpoints, and corners that have earned the village its "Most Beautiful Village in Italy" recognition.
