Luvinate celebrates its patrons at the foot of Monte Campo dei Fiori
The Patronal Feast of Saints Hippolytus and Cassian is the heart of community life in Luvinate, a small town nestled at the foot of Monte Campo dei Fiori, in the province of Varese. The town is dedicated to Saints Hippolytus and Cassian, two martyrs of the early Church, celebrated on August 13th.
The religious heart of the feast is the Church of Saints Hippolitus and Cassian, a late 18th-century building expanded in the 19th century, which holds the town's devotion to its protectors. It is here that the most solemn liturgical moments of the occasion are concentrated.
Around the religious feast, a traditional festival develops, usually held on the second or third Sunday of August. The event is opened by a solemn ceremony, generally in the presence of the Provost of Varese, who celebrates a High Mass before the congregation. Religious moments are complemented by convivial and community events that liven up the village.
The Feast of Saints Hippolytus and Cassian is part of the tradition of patronal feasts in the Varesotto region, where each town celebrates its saints with rites and community gatherings. For Luvinate, immersed in the greenery of the Prealps and the Campo dei Fiori Park, it is the annual occasion to come together and renew the bond with its roots, in the province of Varese.
In 2026, Luvinate will again celebrate its patrons, Saints Hippolytus and Cassian, on August 13th. The parish will offer religious services, including High Mass, while the traditional mid-August festival, usually on the second or third Sunday of the month, will accompany the celebrations with convivial and community events. The opening ceremony is generally entrusted to the Provost of Varese. The detailed program will be announced by the parish closer to the date, in this village at the foot of Monte Campo dei Fiori.
