In Duronia, in the province of Campobasso, the patron saint is Saint Roch, celebrated on August 16th. The patronal feast is one of the most cherished moments of the Duronian summer, which also attracts many emigrants returning for the holidays.
Festivals of Typical Dishes
The religious celebration is accompanied by gastronomic festivals dedicated to traditional local dishes. The stars are pasta and beans and 'scattone' (or 'squattone'), a typical Duronian dish made with pasta and wine, a symbol of Molise's peasant cuisine. Among the village's specialties are also 'laganelle', handmade tagliatelle.

The day of August 16th intertwines the rites in honor of Saint Roch with popular games, music, and conviviality. The festival is organized by the Pro Loco of Duronia in collaboration with the Municipality, the Parish, and the Sanctuary Volunteer Group, as part of a summer calendar dedicated to culture, traditions, and rediscovering roots.
