Three weeks of celebration in the hamlets of Concesio for the Pope from Brescia
The Patronal Feast of Saint Paul VI is the grand celebration that Concesio, in the Province of Brescia, dedicates to its patron saint: Giovanni Battista Montini, Pope Paul VI, who was born in this very town in Valle Trompia. Not a one-day festival, but a widespread celebration that for about three weeks in May involves all the hamlets of the town — Pieve, San Vigilio, Sant'Andrea, Costorio — with a rich calendar of religious, cultural, and community events.
The program intertwines moments of faith and initiatives for all ages: it starts with the choral review for children, Fiori di Primavera (Spring Flowers), at the Oratory Theatre of San Vigilio, continues with the "Festa diffusa" (Widespread Festival) of Sant'Andrea, the festivals of Santa Giulia in Costorio, the Sport Party at the Oratorio Paolo VI in Pieve, up to cultural and theatrical events. Each hamlet thus experiences its own part of the festival, in a mosaic that unites the entire community.
Among the most anticipated moments are the concert by the Coro Lirico Calliope in the Basilica and the theatrical performance dedicated to the figure of the Pope from Brescia. The festival culminates in the solemn Patronal Mass of Saint Paul VI, presided over by the Bishop of Brescia, and with the final concert by the Concesio Musical Band.
The Patronal Feast of Saint Paul VI is much more than a religious observance: it is the moment when Concesio rediscovers the bond with the figure of the Pope born here, uniting devotion, culture, and social life in one of the most heartfelt festivals in Valle Trompia and the entire province of Brescia.
The 2026 edition spans three weeks and involves all the hamlets of Concesio. The calendar combines religious, cultural, and sporting moments, with the children's choral review "Fiori di Primavera", hamlet festivals, the "Sport Party", the concert by the Coro Lirico Calliope, a theatrical performance dedicated to the Pope from Brescia, and the solemn Patronal Mass presided over by the Bishop of Brescia, Msgr. Tremolada, with the finale entrusted to the Concesio Musical Band.
