The patronal feast of Campoli Appennino
Saint Pancras the Martyr is the patron saint of Campoli Appennino, a small town in the province of Frosinone, in southern Lazio, known as the "City of the bear and the truffle" due to its location on the edge of the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park. Every year, around May 12th, the entire community comes together to honor its protector with a festival that weaves together religious observance and popular social gatherings.
The solemn procession
The heart of the festivities is the solemn procession: the statue of Saint Pancras is carried on shoulders through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the faithful, the clergy, and a brass band. The procession winds through the village amidst decorations, festive lighting, and the moving participation of the residents, in a ritual renewed from generation to generation that also draws back Campoli natives who have emigrated and return to their hometown for the occasion.
A program of faith and community
The festivities span several days, featuring Holy Masses celebrated in the church dedicated to the saint, with the main day highlighted by a solemn Mass followed by the procession. Alongside the liturgical events, a secular program unfolds:
- brass band concerts and musical entertainment in the town square;
- traditional fireworks displays that conclude the days of celebration;
- stalls and social gatherings that bring the historic center to life;
- participation from local confraternities and associations.

Campoli Appennino can be reached by car from the A1 motorway (Sora–Isola del Liri or Cassino exit) and from the Sora–Atina–Cassino highway. The nearest train station is in Sora, on the Avezzano–Roccasecca line.
