Patronal Feast of Saint Nicholas — Sfilata delle Some and Lancio dei Taralli

In 2025, Pollutri celebrated Saint Nicholas in a special year: the fourth centenary of the patronage (1625-2025). The Lancio dei Taralli took place on May 2nd: at 1:00 PM, the windows of Palazzo del Re opened, and the blessed bread rings were tossed onto the crowd on Corso Papa Giovanni Paolo II. For the occasion, approximately 15,600 taralli were kneaded and baked, handmade by local masters. The ritual opened the year's devotional cycle, followed in December by the cooking of fava beans in memory of the 17th-century miracle attributed to the Saint during a famine. An event that reaffirmed the deep bond between the Pollutri community and its patron saint.
