Paderno d'Adda celebrates its patron saint, the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven
The Patronal Feast of Saint Mary of the Assumption celebrates the patron saint of Paderno d'Adda, in the province of Lecco: the Blessed Virgin Mary Assumed into Heaven, to whom the town's parish church is dedicated. The feast is celebrated on August 15th, Ferragosto, one of the most heartfelt dates in the Italian religious and popular calendar.
The heart of the feast is the solemn Mass dedicated to the Assumption, followed by a procession through the town's streets, a moment when the community of Paderno d'Adda renews its devotion to the patron saint. It is an ancient tradition, deeply rooted in the village's identity, which brings the inhabitants together on a day of celebration and reflection.
Falling on August 15th, the patronal feast intertwines with the summer atmosphere of Ferragosto, in a town overlooking the Adda River and nestled in the greenery of the Adda Nord Park. The Assumption celebration thus becomes a moment for the community that combines the spiritual dimension with the pleasure of gathering, in the heart of summer, in one of the most evocative areas of the province of Lecco, dominated by the famous San Michele Bridge.
