The Christmas of the City of Nativity Scenes, with exhibitions, lights, and artistic dioramas
Few villages in Italy experience Christmas with the same intensity as Ponte San Pietro, in the Isola Bergamasca, province of Bergamo. This is home to the Italian Association of Friends of the Nativity Scene, and for years, the community has transformed the art of nativity scene creation into a true identity marker: it's no coincidence that the town has earned the title "City of Nativity Scenes." Natale d'Incanto is the event that brings all of this together and showcases it, from late November to early January.
The heart of the event is the grand nativity scene exhibition set up in the evocative Old Church. Each year features a different theme that guides visitors through a display of dozens of dioramas and Nativity scenes, crafted with great artisanal care. Explanatory panels accompany the exhibition, telling stories of journeys, faith, and hope: in recent editions, the common thread has been dedicated to the Magi, the mysterious wise men from the East, with scenes recounting their journey.
Natale d'Incanto is a widespread celebration that enlivens the entire historic center. During the weeks of the event, the anti-aircraft shelter remains open, along with special exhibitions (historic rally cars and Vespas) and Christmas markets in the town's streets. The famous Alpini nativity scene comes to life on the Brembo River, while the calendar is filled with concerts like "Voci di Natale" (Voices of Christmas), shows, and family-friendly activities. The festive lights complete the atmosphere, making the village an ideal destination for a stroll during Advent.
The strength of Natale d'Incanto lies in combining the spiritual and popular dimensions: the nativity scene as a work of art and as a shared tradition, capable of speaking to believers and the curious, adults and children alike. For those visiting Bergamo and its province during the holidays, a stop in Ponte San Pietro is an authentic way to discover how Christmas is celebrated in Lombardy's villages.
As every year, Natale d'Incanto will return to liven up Ponte San Pietro during Advent and the Christmas holidays. The detailed program for the 2026 edition, including the theme of the nativity scene exhibition, precise dates, and the schedule of concerts and activities, will be published on the official channels of the Municipality and the Association of Friends of the Nativity Scene in the preceding weeks.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced in the autumn. Based on previous editions, the event includes:
